OHW: Far East Movement and Dev

This is the first One-Hit Wonder Wednesday post. Enjoy!

Everyone knows the hit "Like A G6" by Far East Movement, Dev, and the Cataracs (it sold millions of units worldwide and topped the Hot 100), but did they produce any hits after that? In this post we will find out if they ever came close to matching the success of Like A G6, and we will see if they are a one-hit wonder (OHW), two hit wonder (THW) or a multiple-hit wonder (MHW)!

Terms:
-a one-hit wonder is an artist that had a song chart in the Billboard Hot 100 (top 40) in the USA, but never had a song chart in the top 40 again.
-a two hit wonder is the same as above, but had two songs chart in the top 40, and then never had a song chart there again.
- a multiple-hit wonder is an artist that had three or more songs chart in the top 40.
-collaborations/featured artists that chart in the top 40 count

The reason why we have we have two artists in this post (Dev and Far East Movement) is because they were both in the same mega-hit (G6) and their careers are similar.  Did you know that it was sampled from Dev's song, Booty Bounce?

Like many other artists, Far East Movement and Dev had a big hit and then a follow up song that wasn't as successful. First we will look at Far East Movements career.

The follow song to Like A G6 was Rocketeer (feat. Ryan Tedder). This song reached #7 on the Hot 100.

Fun Fact: this song is almost identical to...

Anyway, this makes Far East Movement a THW... but, they still had one more hit: Live My Life (feat. Justin Bieber). This song peaked at #21 on the Hot 100... So its official: not only did Far East Movement break the OHW barrier, but they also broke the THW barrier making them a MHW.

Dev had the same mega-hit as Far East Movement (which is why they are in the same post), but they didn't collaborate again.

Her follow up single, Bass Down Low peaked at #61 on the Hot 100, which isn't a top 40 hit (duh).

She then collaborated with the New Boyz, where she had her first top 40 hit since G6 with "Backseat" (peak is #21).

After the success of both songs, she decided to release a song with no collaborations  ("In The Dark"). This sleeper-hit peaked at #11, making it her third top 40 single.

Her later songs all failed to chart, except for "Naked" featuring Enrique Iglesias which peaked at #99.

So that sums it up: Dev and Far East Movement are both MHW's. If you think about it, they have very similar careers: they had a huge hit (G6), a second single that charted in the top 10 (or almost did), and another single that charted in the top 20. In my opinion, both artists are very talented (I have G6 and five songs by Dev on iTunes).
